A friend visiting from San Antonio, Texas, (Hi, Mark!) wrote down this recipe for me from memory, exclaiming how fantastic it tastes. He says, “Like lasagna, it tastes even better a few days later.”
In a sauce pan, bring 2 sticks unsalted butter, 1 cup water, and 4 tablespoons cocoa to boil. Remove from heat. Stir in 2 cups sugar, 2 cups flour, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Blend in 1/2 cup sour cream, 2 eggs, and 1 teaspoon baking soda. Transfer to 13 x 9 x 2 baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes.
Using the same sauce pan, bring 1 stick unsalted butter to boil. Add 4 tablespoons cocoa and 6 tablespoons milk. Remove from heat. Add 1 box confectioners sugar, 1 cup chopped pecans and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Pour over cake while hot.

Sam making Twinkie Sushi! These were a hit at two parties over the weekend, Tiffany’s birthday party and Blair & Rachel’s Super Bowl party. We fooled a lot of people with them. Many thought they were real sushi! Even a chef that’s regularly on a local TV news program thought it was real, all the way to the point when he bit it! I wish the pics were better, but that’s what you get with a cellphone camera. Twinkie Sushi is fun and easy and it’s a really impressive presentation. Give it a try!

A FABULOUS (The colors alone will bring a tear of unexpected joy to your eye!) drink created by an unbelievable sequence of unlikely happenstances. Served (so far) exclusively at the Beedley Theatre in the historic and lovely Aycock Neighborhood in the Gem of the South that is Greensboro, North Carolina.
Get:
Nice glass (Required! Clear double old fashion recommended)
Ice (Crystal clear cubes, what else?!?!)
Mountain Dew (Leaded or unleaded. Stick with caffeinated for that special bzzzzzz factor!)
Fresh blueberries (Wash ‘em! Don’t need more chemicals than what’re in the Dew!)
Flexible straw (Fluorescent Pink with high vinyl content is the preferred straw of the Beedley Theatre)
Do:
Put the ice in the glass.
Put the Dew in the glass.
Put the blueberries in the glass. (9-13 berries. Yes, 9-13! Only 9-13! Too few or too many and you don’t have Blue Dew!)
Put the straw in the glass.
Stir occasionally whilst engaging in witty repartee.
Oh yeah, drink it & make more!
You can eat the blueberries, too! (Try to avoid flipping them out of the glass while trying to stab them with the straw.)
